Page 111/112 (one page) are seperated from the hinges 2/3 of the way down from the center top. Pages 33 thru 36 (two pages) have slight tears approx 5/8" long from the center bottom of page. Book is complete with all 303 pages and illustrations. Book is free from mildew smell and pages are amazingly clean even to the touch, free of writing, minimal foxing throughout, normal cover wear for age, cover is slightly cocked to right, overall very good condition. Please view pictures for imperfections. "The Jungle Book" is a collection of seven stories by English Nobel laureate Rudyard Kipling. Many of the illustrations were done by Kipling's father John Lockwood Kipling. Kipling was born in India and spent the first six years of his childhood there. After living in England for about ten years he returned to India for a time. 'The Jungle Book' was written when Kipling lived in Vermont. The story is, a rare first edition of the book with a poignant handwritten note by the author to his daughter Josephine was discovered at the National Trust's Wimpole Hall in Cambridgeshire in 2010 giving evidence the book was written for her .
